This year’s Geneva Motor Show will be quite a busy one for BMW, as the Munich-based plans to unveil the new 6 Series Gran Coupe, Bavaria’s answer to the Mercedes-Benz CLS, the hotly-anticipated M6, a quartet of M-badged diesel models, the 2013 model-year X6 and official M Performance accessories for the new 3 Series.
The 6 Series Gran Coupe will be the obvious headliner; the five-seater chases the likes of the CLS and Audi’s A7 with its coupe-esque exterior styling and grand-saloon seating capacity. Another big unveil will be the return of the M6, which should use much of the M5’s internals and boast similarly mercurial performance.
The new line-up of M performance models will also grace BMW’s stand at Geneva. The cars are expected to bridge the gap between the standard cars and high-performance M cars like the 1M, M3 and M5. Four all-wheel drive and turbodiesel models will be the first to kick off the new M performance brand at Geneva, the M550d xDrive, M550d xDrive Touring, X5 M50d and X6 M50d. Of course, the X6 will also make an appearance at the show in its standard guise – which has been refreshed for 2013.
In line with the launch of the M Performance cars, BMW will also display the M parts and accessories for the new 3 Series, which includes darkened kidney grilles, carbon-fibre adorned front spoilers, performance-oriented exhaust systems and M steering wheels.
