BMW has announced that its fantastic M235i Coupe will soon be available with the xDrive all-wheel-drive system. This system will initially be offered in Europe, with US introduction following shortly afterwards. Based on the fact that we are not privy to other xDrive models in the 5 and 3 Series ranges, it is unlikely that we will see this model in SA any time soon.
Grip from all four corners is said to endow the M235i xDrive Coupe with a 100 km/h from standstill time of 4,6 seconds, 0,2 seconds faster than BMW claims for the rear-wheel-drive model. This still leaves it a tad shy of Mercedes’s A45, which can blitz the benchmark run in a shade over 4,6 seconds as confirmed by CAR.
The M235i xDrive is offered as standard with the eight-speed Steptronic sport transmission. Power is still derived from the twin-turbocharged 3,0-litre inline-six cylinder engine producing 240 kW and 450 N.m of torque.
