Fiat Auto is well on its way to recovery with a bevy of fresh and exciting products, and the stylish Fiat Bravo is its next global contender in the all-important subcompact segment.
The fresh-faced Bravo will be unveiled to the international media at a special junket in Rome on January 29. The Italian manufacturer has already revealed that the new VW Golf/Ford Focus-rival have on a 2,6-metre wheelbase and that the newcomer will be available in a sporty five-door configuration only.
The car is over 4,34 metres long and is claimed to provide ample interior space. Compared with the maligned Stilo, the Bravo is said to offer much-improved interior quality. According to the manufacturer, the newcomer incorporates “technology and comfort features usually reserved for cars in higher classes”.
A range of engines will be used in the Stilo replacement, ranging from the familar 1,9-litre Multijet turbodiesel to a pair of new T-Jet turbocharged petrol powerplants. Outputs across the range of petrol- and turbodiesel units vary from 67 kW to 111 kW.
It is hoped that the Bravo launch will continue the momentum gained by Fiat following its success of the Giorgetto Giugiaro-designed Grande Punto. Launched locally in May this year, Fiat Auto SA sold 142 units of the good-looking small car in September, the last period for which full sales data is available. In the same period, Fiat Auto SA sold only 11 Stilo units.
