The 1,4 litre 8-valve powerplant has the latest generation common-rail direct injection diesel system and turbo expertise for reduced noise and vibration.
It offers 150 N.m of torque at 1 750 r/min, while maximum power of 50 kW is developed at 4 000 r/min. According to the French manufacturer, it consumes 3,52 litres per 100 km in the rural cycle and 5,01 litres in the urban cycle. The claimed top speed is 165 km/h and it sprints from 0-100 km/h in 14,8 seconds.
The C3 was the first Citroën to be fitted with the new-generation HDi engines developed through an agreement between PSA Peugeot Citroën and Ford.
As with all C3s, standard features include: electric power steering, two airbags, air conditioning, a front-loading CD player, height-adjustable driver’s & passenger seats, digital instruments, a steering wheel adjustable for rake and reach, side impact protection, pre-tensioners for the safety belts, central locking and immobiliser with key transponder.
Maintenance on the HDi is limited to routine oil changes every 10 000 km, air filter changes every 60 000 km, with a major service required at 20 000 km intervals. All new Citroëns are now covered by a three year or 100 000 km factory warranty.
There is a warranty of three years on the paintwork, as well as a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty. A comprehensive road assistance package is standard on all Citroëns and a two-year / 60 000 km service plan is available as an option.
