Mercedes-Benz South Africa has announced the arrival of a new six-cylinder petrol model to its local line-up coinciding with its new Edition C trim designation.
The Mercedes-Benz C300 features a detuned version of the C350’ 3,5-litre, six-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. This unit develops 185 kW and 340 N.m – reportedly good enough for a 0-100 km sprint time of 6,9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
This model is offered in both sedan and estate body shapes. Among this model’s standard features is the firm’s COMAND Online multimedia system with live traffic information, which can be upgraded with a Harman Kardon Logic 7 audio system.
The C300 is the first model to offer the Edition C package, which adds further specification and stylistic touches to the sedan, estate and coupé at a cost of R5 900.
Among this trim line’s exterior touches are and AMG-style front apron, sills and rear bumper; high-gloss black grille louvres, darkened headlamps and Edition C badging on the front wings. Sedan and estate models roll on a set of 17-inch, five-spoke alloys in a black, high-sheen finish, while Avantgarde-spec and coupé models feature 18-inch items.
The cabin features front seats (AMG sports items in the coupé) finished in leather/microfiber, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, an 11,4 cm colour media display, model-specific velour floor mats and Attention Assist.
The C300 Edition C costs R499 443 and, like all Mercedes-Benz models, comes with a 6 year/100 000 km maintenance plan.
