CAR magazine is thrilled to announce that it has secured the services of well-known British motoring journalist, Chris Harris, to perform track testing and video duties for CAR’s 2013 Performance Shootout (January 2013 issue). He will be joined on track (and on screen), by CAR’s track ace, multiple South African motor racing champion, Deon Joubert.
Chris started his meteoric rise in the world of motoring journalism in 1998, by, “cleaning the ash-trays at Autocar”. He eventually became that title’s Road Test Editor, did a bit of, “racing and skidding” on the side, and then started Drivers Republic, before going to British title Evo. Currently Chris is doing Pistonheads and Youtube’s DRIVE channel, very successfully too. His video on Toyota’s 86, for example, currently has around 1,2 million Youtube views.
Chris has been to South Africa before, the last time for the Grand Prix Masters race at Kyalami a few years ago, and has stated that he’s got a, “soft-spot” for this part of the world.
“We’re really thrilled to have Chris join us for Shootout 2013,” said CAR Editor, Hannes Oosthuizen. “He is one of the few international journalists that have made the transition to video in such a successful way, and we can certainly learn a lot from him in that regard. The on-screen dynamic between Chris and our track ace, Deon Joubert, also promises very much, and I’m convinced this collaboration will push our video content to another level,” Oosthuizen said.
The 2013 Shootout, once again sponsored by long-time partner Bridgestone, will move back to Cape Town’s Killarney circuit this year, with track testing scheduled to take place on 19/20 November. As before, the public is welcome to come and have a look – more details will be announced at a later date.
