While the Jaguars of old displayed leaping lions on their bonnets, a car in New Zealand was seen navigating city streets with a cat clinging to its roof!
The cat survived the harrowing experience of being carted through the streets of Auckland on the roof of its owner’s car, without the driver being aware of it.
John Sutton thought he had chased his pet cat, a grey Persian called Bono, from his car before set off to work, the reported.
After travelling at 50 km/h for about three blocks, something fluffy rolled down his car’s windscreen and gripped the wiper blades as he came to a stop.
"It gave me a hell of a fright," Sutton said. "Then I realised it was Bono and he was petrified."
A police constable, Tim Shields, was on patrol when he saw the car coming towards him.
He said: “The expression on that cat’s face was hilarious. It was wide-eyed and obviously knew the consequences if it let go."
