The concept of the Spark is simple: a small, practical car with roomy dimensions and a fun, if perhaps a bit static, disposition. With its trendy circular lights and massive windshield, the Spark has a somewhat MPV-like look coupled with an ergonomic interior.
The Spark will be available in Base and LS derivatives, both featuring similar technical specifications. The front-wheel drive Spark has a lively 796 cm3 engine that delivers 37,5 kW at 5 900 r/min, and 68,6 N.m of torque at 4 600 r/min. With its five-speed manual transmission, the three-cylinder unit is claimed to propel the Spark to a top speed of 142 km/h.
In terms of safety, the Spark has a collapsible steering column, high-mounted brake light and side impact door beams included as standard features on both models. Its modern chassis also aids the safety potential of the Spark, with McPherson struts at the front end and an isolated trailing link at the rear. The more luxurious Spark LS has added features such as air conditioning, electrically-operated front windows, central locking and interior-adjustable mirrors.

Pricing is R64 700 for the base model, and R78 800 for the LS. The vehicles have a three year or 100 000 km warranty, and are available at Chevrolet dealerships countrywide.
