After launching its first Multi-Purpose Vehicle in 1983 Chrysler celebrates its 20th year in the class with an Anniversary Edition Voyager.
With first models including the Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan minivans and the Chrysler Town and Country, the brand enjoyed remarkable success in the countries where it was released.
The manufacturer has been equally successful in South Africa following the release of the Voyager in 1996, when DaimlerChrysler first started producing cars for the right-hand drive market. It is expected that by the end of the year, 4 500 Voyagers would have found a space in South African garages.
“Since its introduction in South Africa, the new Chrysler Voyager has exceeded the expectations of DaimlerChrysler South Africa, and those of the consumer, in every way,” explained Guy Franken, Chrysler and Jeep marketing manager at DaimlerChrysler SA.
Since 1983, the Chrysler Group has sold more than 10 million MPVs worldwide and going on sale during the last quarter of 2003, the Anniversary Edition Voyagers will feature special badges placed in front of the driver and front passenger doors, and on the tailgate.
