DaimlerChrysler SA will make Mopar V-Line parts available to Chrysler and Jeep dealerships in South Africa from July 1.
According to the manufacturer, the parts will reduce the cost of services not covered by the division’s recently launched, three-year/60 000km scheduled services plan. Furthermore, the price of the original equipment (OE) quality service “parts will be competitive with premium after-market brands,” the company said.
Mopar has been supplying replacement parts to DaimlerChrysler for more than 60 years. Divisional manager for Chrysler and Jeep South Africa Trent Barcroft said V-Line fuel, oil and air filters, spark plugs, brakes and wiper blades met and exceeded Chrysler and Jeep models’ original equipment specifications.
DaimlerChrysler said that Mopar V-Line brakes represented an average saving of 52,5 per cent across the range, when compared to Mopar brakes. V-Line filters offered an average saving of 17,1 per cent, V-Line wiper blades were 36,8 per cent cheaper and V-Line spark plugs 10,3 per cent, the company claimed.
For example, a Mopar V-Line rear brake pad kit for a 1995 to 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee were reportedly 68,6 per cent less expensive than the Mopar original equipment parts for the same model.
“Mopar V-Line parts have been introduced to cater to the customer who no longer, or never did benefit from the scheduled service plan on all Chrysler and Jeep vehicles,” Barcroft said. “The V-Line parts range is made up of items that will definitely be required a number of times over the lifespan of the average vehicle and, as such, offer customers a significant saving when compared to the same Mopar OE parts.”
