The CEO of Daimler Chrysler South Africa, Trent Barcroft, is in a critical condition after he was shot during an armed robbery in Midrand, Gauteng.
Barcroft and his wife, Cathy, were allegedly followed after they went shopping. According to Eyewitness News, a vehicle knocked them from behind and when Barcroft got out to exchange details with the driver he was shot in the stomach. Cathy was unharmed. The robbers fled with Barcroft’s wallet, watch and cellphone as well as Cathy’s handbag and jewellery.
Barcroft is being treated in the ICU of Sunninghill Hospital in Johannesburg. He is expected to make a full recovery.
No arrests have been made.
