The distinctive DS5 will be the focal point of a product-packed Citroën stand at this year’s Johannesburg International Motor Show.
Having shown off the DS5 Hybrid4 diesel-electric hybrid at this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show, Citroën SA will give local punters a chance to take in its latest large hatchback offering. The hybrid DS5 uses a hybrid drivetrain consisting of a small-capacity diesel engine and an emissions-free electric motor. Citroën has confirmed that the system will have a combined power output of 149 kW and a CO2 figure of 99 g/km.
Citroën hopes to target the growing premium hatchback segment with the DS5, taking a tilt at the likes of the Audi A3 Sportback. While the hybid powertrain will feature in the top-end model, others in the range are likely to make use of the company’s turbocharged, four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
It will be joined on the Citroën stand by the DS3 Racing – a limited-run (2 000 units, of which 10 are bound for SA) performance version of the DS3 hatchback – as well as the C1, C3, C3 Picasso, C4, C4 Picasso, C5, DS3 and the recently launched DS4.
