A limited edition Renault Clio Va Va Voom has been released and with a reduced price-tag, the ultimate cute car promises to provide even more fun.
Priced at R99 995, the special Clio Va Va Voom comes with a radio that incorporates a CD/MP3 player too, a unique addition to this model.
This car is distinguished from its other Clio playmates by the Va Va Voom badging on its tailgate and, despite its lower price, comes with the high standard of spec seen on the other Clios.
Air conditioning, front electric windows, height adjustable steering wheel with power steering, all round tinted glass, and remote central locking with RAID, which automatically locks the doors when the car is in motion, are standard.
Dual front airbags and side impact beams for the front and rear doors are offered as well as seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters.
The Clio Va Va Voom shares its mechanical specification with the 1,2-litre 16v Authentique model. The four-cylinder engine delivers 55 kW of power at 5 500 r/min and 105 N.m of torque at 3 500 r/min and is matched to a five-speed manual transmission.
An independent suspension configuration does duty up front, featuring MacPherson struts with coil springs, lower wishbones and an anti-roll bar. At the rear, the semi-independent setup comprises trailing arms linked to a torsion beam.
When compared to the other competitors priced similarly in the small car pile, the Clio does come higher specced than the newer Ford Fiesta Trend, base Chevrolet Aveo and Opel Corsa Comfort for example. However, considering that these models all offer 1,4-litre engines, the lack of power in the Clio may just be a pivotal point influencing many buyers’ decisions.
The Va Va Voom comes standard with a three-year/100 000 km warranty, a six-year anti-corrosion warranty and 15 000 km service intervals.
