Chrysler’s performance tuned Crossfire SRT-6 will enjoy its world premiere at Geneva next month, and this 246kW blaster will be the first SRT to be sold outside North America when it goes on sale later this year.
The SRT-6 (SRT denotes Street and Racing Technology) features a hand-built 3,2-litre supercharged 18-valve V6 engine. With 246kW and 420N.m of torque, the definitive Crossfire can be catapulted to 100km/h from standstill in just over 5 seconds.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a five-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.
The performance-tuned suspension features independent double wishbones at the front and independent five-link rear suspension increased spring rates. The ESP has been specialised to contribute further to the car’s performance and handling.
On the outside, sporty attributes include a menacing fixed rear spoiler and integrated front spoiler to enhance the aerodynamics and increase vehicle balance.
The strong shoulder lines, offset by the aluminium windscreen surrounds, accentuate the sculpted profile while 15-spoke aluminium alloy wheels add to the performance look.
The Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 features race-inspired seats trimmed in nappa Pearl leather with suede leather inserts and bolsters. ‘SRT-6’ is embroidered on the headrests while grey stitching on the seats and steering wheel complete the interior arrangements.
And though it has not been confirmed yet whether the Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 will be produced in right-hand drive, the possibility does exist as part of the Chrysler Group’s new international strategy.
Trent Barcroft, Divisional Manager for Chrysler and Jeep at DaimlerChrysler SA, said the SRT-6 will “firmly entrench Chrysler as a manufacturer of sports cars for the real enthusiast”.
