A dispute over repairs resulted in a customer shooting dead a panelbeater in Potchefstroom on Thursday.

Superintendent Louis Jacobs told CARtoday.com that the suspect had brought his minibus taxi in for repair work and a paint job. When he went to collect it earlier in the week he found the bulbar had been removed.

“According to employees at the shop the suspect asked the panelbeater to replace it. When he returned again on Thursday he was angry when he found a different bulbar had been added that was too small and did not fit properly.

“The pair argued about it and the then the suspect shot the panelbeater in the face. He died at the scene and the minibus taxi owner was arrested,” said Jacobs.

The policeman said the panelbeater’s name has not been released yet as they have not been able to contact his family. “He is not from this area and we are struggling to get hold of his family,” he said.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Monday and charged with murder.
