Daihatsu SA claims to know what women want and, as a result, the company has launched a vehicle aimed specifically at women – the Daihatsu Terios Diva.
Daihatsu marketing manager, Braam Faul, believes that the majority of cars are designed for men and that “It’s rare to find a vehicle that has been specifically created to address the needs of women”. The Terios Diva aims to fill this gap in the market.
To distinguish the Diva from the conventional Terios Daihatsu has added Diva decals on the outside of the vehicle, alloy wheels, fog lamps, roof rails and colour-coded bumpers.
Standard features include heel protecting carpets, orange-stitched leather seats, chromed interior door handles, tilt adjustable steering, driver seat height adjustment, seat back pockets, height adjustable seatbelt anchorage, air conditioning, power steering, power windows all around, electric mirrors and no fewer than six cup holders. Other highlights include an entertainment system that has DVD/CD/MP3 playback, Bluetooth, USB and iPod functionality. There is also a GPS system, reverse camera and a built-in hard drive that can store up to 60 songs.
Safety features include driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, Isofix baby seat mounting points, a crash sensing fuel cut off system, safety film window coating, central locking and a transponder immobiliser.
The Terios Diva also comes with seat organisers that hang behind the front seat and can store an array of nick-nacks that would otherwise clutter handbags. There is also a boot organiser that helps to separate items carried in the cargo area.
Under the bonnet of the Diva is a 1,5-litre petrol engine with 77 kW of power and 140 N.m of torque coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Daihatsu Terios Diva will set you back R244 995 and is covered by a three-year/100 000 km warranty.
