Amid rumours of the luxury Jaguar-owned Daimler brand being discontinued, the company has now announced that a new version of the Daimler will be released early next year.

Based on the new long-wheelbase XJ, the Daimler version will be fitted with luxurious trim and new grille.

Rumours were that the Daimler range would be discontinued once the current XJ completed its run.

The last model unique to Daimler was the limousine, built from 1968 to 1992. Since the early 70’s the range has been made up mainly of re-badged top-of-the-range Jaguars with added features.

There have been strong reactions to the rumoured axing of the brand from Jaguar. The company says it will eventually launch a new range of bespoke Daimlers rather than revising existing Jaguars.
