Yes, you read that right, five THOUSAND horsepower, or in excess of 3 700 kW. Sounds a little bit insane, doesn’t it? It’s funny though, the creator of the Devel Sixteen, Rashid Al-Attari, doesn’t seem like he’s insane (see below for a video interview with the man).
The crazy-looking car, which appears like a cross between a Batmobile and a Lamborgini Veneno, made its debut at the Dubai Motor Show with extreme claims. The firm reports a V16 engine with four “huge” turbos that will provide a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 1,8 seconds (no word on the type of drivetrain), and (wait for it) a top speed of 560 km/h. I guess Bugatti Veyron owners are now quaking in their Italian boots.
“Special tyres, special aerodynamics and special transmission” are all part of the package that Al-Attari claims will help rocket this car into the record books. For daily use, the car will use just half the cylinders to produce a more usable 670 kW.
A quick surf around the ‘net, including the firm’s official website, doesn’t reveal any concrete evidence of these outlandish claims. None of the sections of the site work, but there are contact details, presumably so you can call to place an order.
