The 500 by Diesel model is based on the Fiat 500 Sport trim and is available in two versions, hatch and cabriolet, featuring two metallic hues – Diesel Green or Blue Midnight Indigo.
So what else makes it so different? It features 16-inch alloy wheels with the Diesel logo, special door mirror fairings, dark tinted rear windows and the Diesel logo also appears on rear finisher and side mouldings.
Inside the cabin you will find bespoke upholstery by Diesel in denim with yellow stitching. The Diesel logo also features on the instrument panel while pouches that are meant to resemble the pockets on Diesel jeans appear on the side of the front seats. The gear lever sports the Diesel logo and the doorsill kick plates feature the slogan, “For successful living”.
The 500 by Diesel is powered by Fiat’s 1,4-litre 16V engine which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. It produces 74 kW and 131 N.m of torque. Zero to 100 km/h takes 10,6 seconds reaching a top speed of 181 km/h. The combined fuel consumption is at 6,3 l/100 km and CO<sub>2</sub> emissions are 149 g/km.
Pricing for the Fiat 500 by Diesel hatch is R182 480 and the cabriolet is R214 480. Fiat South Africa provides a three year/100 000 km warranty as well as a five year/90 000 service plan for this model.
