The new Fiat Doblò Cargo has been introduced, with new features, equipment and body colours.
The Cargo MY 2004 is compact, practical and versatile and comes with the 46 kW 1,9-litre diesel engine already proven in its previous incarnation.
With a length of just 4,16 metres, the Doblò’s roominess allows for great quantities of stuff to be packed into its ample interior. For ease of use, the Doblò has optional dual sliding doors that extend for up to 685 millimetres for greater accessibility when loading and unloading goods. And with the flat floor pan 53 centimetres off the ground, it is easier to lift and load heavier objects. With the width between the wheel arches totaling 1,2 metres, the Doblò’s load space can also accommodate bulkier goods.
No significant changes have been made to the Cargo’s styling, which remains uncluttered and utilitarian. The Doblò’s facia has been reworked and features a new dark grey and blue colour scheme. The gearlever is now on the facia for easier shifts.
The analogue instrument panel includes a rev counter, speedometer and fuel and coolant gauges. The digital centre display features a clock, headlight alignment correction and follow-me-home function, among other things.
Standard features on the Doblò Cargo MY 2004 include: asymmetrical glazed side-hinged rear doors, side protection strips, partition, six load fastening hooks, power steering, trip computer, headlight alignment corrector, tinted windows, immobiliser and antisubmarining seats.
Optional features include air conditioning, electric front windows, radio/CD; dual side sliding doors; load area carpet and a driver airbag. The Doblò Cargo MY 2004 comes in 11 colours: 6 non-metallic and 5 metallic. The interior seat and door panel trims come with completely new designs and colours.
The designers have attempted to reduce the amount of noise transmitted from the engine and the road and limit vibration and wind noise. While the power unit, intake and exhaust systems, suspension, structure, mechanical component and vehicle conversion were reviewed, they also insulated the passenger compartment with sound deadening and sound absorbent materials, which are applied to the panels and fitted during assembly.
To improve driving comfort still further, the engineers modified shock absorber travel and leaf spring camber to bring the vehicle nose down. The rear suspension’s components (particularly the bushes) allows the Fiat Doblò Cargo MY 2004 to absorb vibrations more effectively without impairing its handling.
At R123 500, Fiat Auto South Africa offers Doblò Cargo owners a 36-month/100 000 km dealer warranty, three years on paintwork and five years on anti-perforation. Services are required at 20 000 km intervals with an oil change every 10 000km. The new model is also covered by the AA Fleet care roadside assistance for 12 months.
