In addition to its impressive power compliments of its quad motor setup, the Drako Dragon SUV can also reportedly sprint to 100 km/h in around 2 seconds which means it should give the Tesla Model S Plaid a run for its money.
Ludicrous performance from unsuspecting EVs is becoming quite the common occurrence as the technology evolves. Draco Motors, now offering a follow up to their 895 kW GTE model which debuted a few years ago and is confident that it will “conquer the automotive world later this year.”
In preparation for the launch, the American luxury sports car manufacturer has released some images that portray a select few details of the upcoming SUV. Specific elements are illuminated in the dimly lit photos which include the lighting signature both fore and aft while aerodynamic components such as a hood scoop and intersecting bodywork around the C-pillar allude to something that is far from ordinary. Most notably, the new Draco Dragon is portrayed front-on with its gullwing doors extended in the air.
The underpinnings of the Dragon make use of Drako’s DriveOS architecture. A four-motor setup is able to deliver 1 491 kW of power to all four corners which means it can get to 100 km/h around 2 seconds before topping out at 321 km/h, quietly. It can also reportedly complete a quarter mile in 9 seconds flat, impressive despite its ponderous SUV stature.
No images of the interior have been provided but the Drako Dragon can reportedly seat up to five occupants in comfort considering the automaker was able to “take advantage of package and design freedoms allowed by EV powertrains.”
No pricing has been given on the new SUV although it is expected to be positioned more competitively than the preceding GTE which started at $1,25 million a pop. This should find itself nestled around other high performance SUVs which it is competing against like the Aston Martin DBX, Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga.
