Pininfarina’s Enjoy has been overhauled to appeal to fashion conscious people of all ages, thanks to a twirl of Louis Vuitton’s magic wand.

As part of Pininfarina’s 75th anniversary celebrations, 75 special Enjoys will be produced and the interior furnishings will be of top quality, courtesy of luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

First seen at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Enjoy is a roofless two-seater based on the aluminium chassis of the Lotus Elise and was designed, like the Elise, to be used on both the track and the road.

Thanks to Pininfarina’s recent acquisition of the engineering, testing and prototyping divisions of Matra Automobile, it has been able to extend its areas of expertise and turn the Enjoy into an exclusive and innovative product.

For the fashion conscious, Pininfarina has commissioned design house Louis Vuitton to give the rumbling sports car a more polished look. Louis Vuitton has brightened up the spartan confines of the otherwise classic sports car.

Being an open car, the materials used are a combination of chrome-coloured leather and weather-proof neoprene. Because the Enjoy has also not been graced with a windscreen, Louis Vuitton has developed a helmet as well. Taking the car’s colours and featuring the LV-emblem, the helmet has a double structure that protects the visor by sliding on either side of it. It also conceals air vents and accommodates sunglasses designed to complement the helmet.

Louis Vuitton has also developed his-and-hers driving suits, fashioned in leather and neoprene, and sporting the car’s colours. These offer protection at the shoulders, hips and knees for greater comfort and cling better to the seats. Car shoes have been added to the list too, and are inspired by classic Louis Vuitton motifs and materials.

The Enjoy has a lightweight aluminium chassis and its body is carbon fibre. This ensures a very light vehicle – with the track version weighing less than 800 kg – while the new double wishbone front and rear suspensions mean top quality driving accuracy in all conditions. Top speed is claimed to be at around 250 km/h, while the 0-100 km/h sprint takes 5,2 seconds.

The 141 kW four-cylinder 16-valve Toyota VVTL-i engine used is the same as the one available here in the RXi, and has been calibrated by Lotus. Power is transmitted via a six-speed manual gearbox.

The large air inlet at the front meets the slim bumpers above and a wing-shaped element below, which with the wheels uncovered creates a full-width spoiler. At the centre of the front bonnet a broad scoop hides the opening for the radiator air vent, while the lights are built into a transparent band that highlights the separation between the bonnet and mudguards.

Behind the seats, a roll bar links two domes tapering off into fins which act as air extractors. A luggage rack can be positioned at the centre of the engine housing. The rear of the car features two wide openings for heat exchange and two central exhausts.
