Two ex-Formula 1 drivers, Allan McNish and Johnny Herbert, have been included in the Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx to compete in the 2004 24 Hours of Le Mans.

They are among four former Formula 1 drivers who will form part of the starting line-up. The classic French long-distance event will take place on June 12 and 13.

Driving for Audi’s customer team, Veloqx, the drivers will be competing in the company’s R8 model. McNish and Herbert have both won the endurance race before – in 1998 and 1991 respectively.

They will be accompanied by teammates Frank Biela, Guy Smith, Pierre Kaffer and Briton Jamie Davies.

The same driver squads will compete in the 12-hour race at Sebring on March 20 in preparation for the Le Mans event. Long-time Formula 1 test driver Darren Turner is the team's reserve driver.
