General Motors South Africa has released the facelifted Chevrolet Cruze. Both the sedan and the hatchback have acquired the updated nose and rear section, while there is also a few mechanical and entertainment updates.
For the first time the Cruze will be offered with the 1,4-litre Ecotec, turbocharged engine which is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. This combination is only available for the sedan model though. This is the same unit as found in other GM products. The engine delivers 103 kW from 4 900 r/min, and 200 N.m from 1 850 r/min. The dash to 100 km/h is done in a claimed 9,3 seconds, top speed is said to be 195 km/h and fuel consumption 5,8 litres per 100 km.
There is also a manual gearbox available with this engine, while the rest of the range is offered with a 1,6-litre, naturally-aspirated engine. The entire range is also equipped with standard safety features such as electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, and ABS with EBD.
In terms of entertainment, the LS models are fitted with the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system.
