There have been plenty of super- and hypercars making headlines over the last few months. Every firm from Ferrari to Ford, McLaren and Koenigsegg have release some or other halo model with jaw-dropping looks and mind-bending performance. Well, here’s one that you may not have heard of yet, the Fahlke Larea GT1 S12.
This creation by a German race team slipped onto the world stage fairly unnoticed, though it’s performance credentials should have earned it a starring role.
How’s this for impressive reading, a power output of 926 kW and 1 600 N.m of torque and that from a good ole supercharged V8, no fancy hybrid systems to help bolster outputs. And if that prodigious power isn’t enough the GT1 tips the scales at a nearly unbelievable 950 kg; that equates to a staggering 974 kW/ton which eclipes pretty much anything else that you can buy brand new and stick a registration plate on.
That featherweight mass is possible because the GT1 is based around a carbon-fibre monocoque, employs the same material for the brakes and other exotic materials such as titanium for the steering column.
Larea quotes a searing acceleration time of 2,0 seconds for the benchmark zero-to-100 km/h test and 5,0 seconds for the 200 km/h blast, just think about those figures for a moment… If you have the space a top speed of 430 km/h is on the cards.
