There’s a time for everything and now is the time for Mercedes-Benz, and the world, to say goodbye to the SLS AMG “Gullwing”.
SLS AMG, the first vehicle fully developed by Mercedes’s performance arm AMG, will be sent off with the creatively titled limited-edition model, the SLS AMG GT Final Edition. Only 350 units, including coupe and roadster variants, will be produced.
Contrary to expectation, the Final Edition does not get an increase in power, but instead will feature the standard 437 kW 6,2-litre V8 engine. 0–100 km/h will flash by in 3,6 seconds, onto an electronically limited top speed of 315 km/h.
The Final Edition will benefit from exterior visual and aerodynamic upgrades, such as an exposed carbon-fibre hood, front splitter and fixed rear spoiler. In addition, AMG added forged alloy wheels, with customers being able to choose between two colour schemes: a polished, high-sheen wheel faces with matte-black inlays or an all matte-black. An option on the Final Edition will be tires – specially developed for Mercedes-AMG – that will aid steering precision and grip.
A new AMG-developed sports car will be introduced next year.
