Love it or loathe it – Ferrari’s controversial all-wheel drive replacement for the 612 Scaglietti, the FF, is coming and the Maranello-based firm has released five new pictures of its latest creation playing in the snow.
The FF plays host to a new all-wheel drive system that had many punters in a frenzied state when initial speculation suggested that it was destined for an SUV model. What has instead materialized is a spacious 2+2 with its sight fixed firmly on the likes of the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin’s Rapide.
Although it plays host to a new all-wheel drive system dubbed 4RM (which apportions torque between the front and rear wheels with a rear-driven bias), the new car is lighter than the 612, tipping the scales at 1 790 kg.
Power is provided by a 6,3-litre V12 with direct injection- good for outputs upward of 480 kW at 8 000 r/min and 680 N.m of torque at 6 000 r/min. Mated with a dual-clutch transmission, this unit will reportedly take the FF from standstill to 100 km/h in just 3,7 seconds and on to a top speed of more than 300 km/h.
