The continuing saga of whether Jean Alesi will be in a Prost or a Jordan at the next Grand Prix in Hungary this month should be finalised this week.
Alesi is keen to join Jordan after the British team fired Heinz Harald Frentzen last month. But his current team owner Alain Prost is not planning to let him go.
According to formula1.com, the Prost team has taken the matter to the FIA Driver’s Contract Board. The FIA Board is expected to make an announcement this week.
Alesi’s manager Mario Miyakawa has confirmed that the French-Sicilian is keen to leave Prost. “We are still in the process of discussions with Alain (Prost) and Jordan,” said Miyakawa. “But I can confirm that Jean wants to leave the team and we want to find a friendly solution.”
It had been suggested that Alesi had a seat-fitting with Jordan last week, but Miyakawa would not confirm or deny the rumours.
