Having previously lured style-conscious buyers to the Fiat stable with its 500 by Diesel model, the Italian firm has now released details of its latest limited-edition offering: the Fiat 500 Matt Black.
As the name suggests the new limited-edition model, of which just a handful of examples will find their way onto the South African market, features a unique matte black paint finish on the bodywork and 16-inch alloy wheels. Metallic-effect mirror housings, grille detail and door handles, along with a red coach line and red brake calipers round off the exterior treatments.
On the equipment front, the 500 Matt Black comes with such features as climate control, automatic anti-dazzle rearview mirror, rear park distance sensors and a premium 6-speaker audio system as standard. Safety features include 7 airbags, ESP, traction control, Hill holder and ABS with EBD.
Fiat will also offer the first 50 buyers of the 500 Matt Black the premium Tom Tom navigation system as standard. This unit, which features a full-colour display, has the ability to manage a mobile phone and works in conjunction with the car’s Blue&Me Bluetooth system.
The 500 Matt Black is powered by a 1,4-litre petrol engine developing 74 kW and 131 N.m of torque. Mated with a six-speed manual gearbox, this unit propels the car from 0-100 km/h in a claimed 10,5 seconds and on to a 180 km/h top speed. Fiat claims fuel consumption of 6,2L/100 km on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 149 g/km.
As with other models in the 500 line-up, the Matt Black is backed up by a 3 year/100 000 km warranty and a 5 year 90 000 km service plan. Service intervals are every 30 000 km.
