Fiat has launched its Qubo van in South Africa. The Italian marque believes that this vehicle “allows you the freedom to do anything you choose, as is expected from an MPV because it’s as easy to handle as a city car and as spacious and comfortable as an MPV”. Prices start at R177 990.
The Qubo claims to offer heaps of practicality and measures in at 3 960 mm in length, 1 720 mm high and 1 680 mm wide. The Qubo offers 16 different seat arrangements and, with the seats in the conventional position, has 330 dm3 of luggage space available. The boot (972 mm wide, 737 mm deep, 545 mm high under the boot panel) is also able to accommodate objects that measure up to 2,5 metres in length. The rear seats are available in 1/3 or 2/3 configurations and can be folded or removed depending on what is needed.
There are two engine options available – a 55 kW 1,3-litre Multijet turbodiesel and a 54 kW 1,4-litre petrol. The diesel unit has a fuel consumption figure of 4,6 litres/100 km and Fiat claims a 1 000 km range on the 45-litre fuel tank. The 1,4-litre petrol returns a fuel consumption of 7,0 litres/100 km. Both units come mated with a five-speed manual transmission.
Standard features across the range include Fiat’s Blue&Me hands-free sound system, a leather-clad steering wheel, cruise control, air-conditioning, electric front mirrors, ABS with EBD, Isofix anchorages, power steering, and front and side airbags.
On the styling front, the Qubo features large body-coloured bumpers and side mirrors, a gaping grille, a long nose and large windows for better visibility.
The Qubo retails for R177 990 for the petrol version and R199 990 for the diesel variant. Prices include a three-year/100,000km full maintenance plan and warranty.
