Six weeks ago we reported on the fact that Ferrari will be building six Ferrari Sergios, based on the concept. Now the company has confirmed that the first delivery has already taken place, the new owner being the SBH Royal Auto Gallery in the UAE, at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit.
The production car has stayed close in terms of design to that of the concept car. It seems the most significant change was done to the rear end of the car, which looks closer to that of 458 Spider, on which the Sergio is based.
Every design element on the Sergio has a function. At the front the semi-floating front spoiler help to balance down force and optimises heat exchange. Integrated into the roll-bar are air intakes to assist with cooling of the clutch and transmission oil. At the rear the engine cover also helps with cooling, while the rear diffuser further assist with down force. Oh, and compared to the concept car the production car also gained a windscreen.
Each of the six Sergios will be configured by their respective buyers. This specific example has a three-layer red exterior paintwork, a carbon-fibre dash and door well, while the forged wheels have been specified in gold, with a diamond finish.
If you wonder why Ferrari is continuing to manufacture such limited models, it is because it works for them. The Ferrari FXX K came with a price tag of $2,7 million (R30 million excluding any import duties), and all 32 examples were sold out by the time the car was unveiled to the public.
