It seems there is a bit of a rejuvenation in the MPV segment. First we saw the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class, then followed the introduction of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. On the more affordable side of the sector, Volkswagen has finally introduced the Golf SV, and now Ford has confirmed that the compact B-Max MPV will arrive in SA in the third quarter of this year.
Based on Ford’s B-car platform, the B-Max is build on the same platform as that of the current Fiesta. Ford refers to the B-Max as a multi-activity vehicle (MAV) and highlights features such as the rear sliding doors and the full-length panoramic roof.
In the UK the B-Max is available three petrol en two diesel engines. However, it seems Ford SA will focus the local range on the 1,0-litre EcoBoost engine, the same unit as found in the Focus, Fiesta and EcoSport.
More details and pricing will become available closer to the launch date.
