Following the local introduction of Ford’s award winning 1,0-litre EcoBoost engine in its Fiesta, comes the news that the small engine will now be mated with Ford’s PowerShift automatic transmission. This is also the first time the Ford Fiesta will be combining these two technologies.
“The first combination of our award-winning EcoBoost 1,0-litre engine with PowerShift dual-clutch, automatic transmission is a major step forward in this segment and will appeal to many new customers – especially those looking for the latest cutting edge technology,” said Marketing Manager, Gavin Golightly.
The PowerShift automatic consists of two manual transmissions working in parallel, with each transmission having its own clutch. As a result, the vehicle will deliver improved fuel economy with the acceleration normally associated with a manual gearbox.
Ford’s advanced six-speed dual-clutch PowerShift gearbox, combined with its EcoBoost technology, will help the Fiesta achieve CO2 emissions of 114 g/km and 4,9 l/100 km according to Ford.
