John Coletti, Ford Motor Company’s director of its special vehicle team programmes, retires from the company this month.
He was responsible for the introduction of limited edition models like the SVT Mustang Cobra and SVT F-150 Lightning.
Regarded as a leading innovator of hot-rod vehicles, Colettiās special vehicle team recorded sales of more than 100 000 high-performance trucks and cars since 1992.
Coletti has been with Ford for more than three decades and has served in several product planning and product engineering positions.
Coletti was also asked to direct the development of the GT40 concept’s chassis and powertrain, while working closely with the Living Legends Design Studio. As a concept, Coletti and his team were tasked with ensuring that the vehicle’s engineering would match its good looks and performance heritage.
His efforts to revive the Mustang brand have been chronicled in several publications, including two books – Comeback, The Fall and Rise of the American Automobile Industry and Mustang, the Next Generation.
