Fiat has realigned its Panda range and introduced entry-level models that don’t skimp on safety and convenience features.
The Panda Young and Young+ are both powered exclusively by the tried-and-tested 1,2-litre four-cylinder powerplant that produces 44 kW and 102 N.m of torque at 2 500 r/min. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 14 seconds, while the combined fuel consumption figure is 5,6 litres/100 km. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard on both models.
Both Young models are available in a range of new colours, including Mambo Yellow, Tribal Violet, Crumbia Beige, Surk Azure, Azzuro Cappelini, and Fiat’s signature Funk White. Three new cloth interior combinations are also available; grey/blue, grey/beige and grey/black.
The Fiat Young comes standard with 13-inch steel wheels with new-design wheel covers, body-coloured front grille with chrome-plated inserts as well as body-coloured bumpers with black protective inserts and “Young” badging on the tailgate. Key-operated central locking, a multifunction control panel with trip computer, heated rear window and rear wiper, air-conditioning, electric front windows, dash-mounted gear lever and autolock are also standard on this model.
When it comes to safety, the Young model comes standard with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters.
The Panda Young+ adds to this standard features list with 14-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, “Young+” badging and a dash-integrated stereo system with CD/MP3 player and four speakers.
Fiat Auto South Africa offers a three-year/100 000 km warranty as well as an optional three-year/60 000 km service plan. The new models are covered by the AA Fleetcare roadside assistance for 12 months.
