A few weeks ago CAR reported on Porsche’s new baby SUV, the Macan. Now further reports have emerged that suggest that the new Macan will also be available with four-cylinder engines.
The Macan, revealed at the 2013 LA Auto Show, is being launched with two twin-turbocharged V6 engines and a V6 oil burner, but according the reports, smaller engines are on their way, too.
Word is that Porsche is preparing both a 2,0-litre turbo petrol and a 2,0-litre turbo diesel engine, with the turbo petrol producing in the region of 210 kW. These engines will slot in beneath the existing V6 engines and will be offered as the entry-level Macans.
It is said that the diesel will be borrowed from Volkswagen, while the petrol will be developed by Porsche itself, which could mean it will have a boxer layout.
