Peugeot has given its 308 hatchback and CC models a cosmetic upgrade that brings them into line with such stylish newcomers as the revamped 3008 and 508.
The cosmetic changes are most apparent at the front, where a shorter, v-shaped bonnet and smoother headlight fairings combine with a more compact air intake and floating front grille to give the car a more contemporary air. The front bumper now incorporates foglamps across the range, while GTi and CC derivatives are equipped with LED daytime running lights incorporated in the bumper’s foglamp apertures.
Subtle changes to the rear of the car include the Peugeot Lion emblem finished in dual brilliant/satin finish and a revised rear apron.
The updates to the 308 range also usher in new model nomenclature: the 308 Comfort 1,6 now becomes the 308 Access 1,6, while the current 308 Premium 1,6 will now be known as the 308 Active 1,6. The 308 Premium Pack 2,0 HDi also undergoes a name change to become the 308 Active 2,0 HDi. The 308 GTi 1,6 THP and 308 CC 1,6 THP models retain their respective designations.
Upgrades to the interior see the introduction of smarter cabin materials and some minor cosmetic tweaks. The instrument faces are black with white graphics, white indicator needles and chromed surrounds. However, 308 GTi and 308 CC models get white-faced dials with red needles. An alphanumeric LED trip computer display and warning light array is now included across the 308 range.
The new 308 range comprises seven models: three petrol engines and a turbodiesel unit, as well as manual and automatic gearboxes. All seven models cost less than the previous versions and include a five-year/100 000 km service plan and three-year/100 000 km warranty as standard.
