Land Rover’s history spans 60 years. The very first models were extremely rudimentary vehicles that possessed go-anywhere capability.
That very first model – which would eventually become the Defender – went through various upgrades and revisions. It’s difficult to believe that CAR tested its very first Land Rover only in 1972.
We were very complimentary of it’s off-road prowess but less so about the spare-wheel mounting and door-sealing quality, as we warned about poor panel gaps and possible dust and water ingress.
