One of the most memorable Renault from the 1980s is without a doubt Renault eccentric Alpine GTA V6 Turbo. With an engine (2,4-litre turbocharged and intercooled) that can trace it roots back to Renault Formula One engines, this coupé delivered a modern hot hatch rivalling 147 kW and 285 N.m. The sprint to 100 km/h was dealt with in 7,17 seconds as tested by us, while top speed was 247 km/h. Barking was less impressive though, with an average time of 3,59 seconds.
Treat yourself, and read the full test. There are some very fascinating facts such as: “the GTA’s structure is a composite consisting of a steel backbone chassis bonded to a glass-reinforced polyester (GRP) hull and body”.
