The Southern Cape Old Car Club’s annual motor festival takes place on the 12th and 13th of February 2011 with a new title sponsor – the Midas George Old Car Show. As usual, the event will be held on the grounds of the Garden Route city’s P W Botha College in York Street. This prestigious show – now into its 15th year – has already attracted some of the country’s most beautiful and sought-after old cars.
“Fins and Fashion” is the theme of this year’s show and to add some flair and excitement to this event, the show will be hosting a competition for people who dress according to the theme. Fashions of the late-’50s and ’60s will be judged in three categories: Best Dressed Exhibitor, Best Dressed Visitor and Best dressed Couple. Two prizes per category are up for grabs. Special focus will also be given to Mercedes Benz and Chevrolet who will be celebrating their 125th and 100th anniversaries, respectively.
The Southern Cape Old Car Club invites all old car enthusiasts wishing to participate in the show to visit its website www.scocc.co.za to register their vehicles. Owners of vehicles dated after 1975 must register in advance to prevent possible disappointment at the show gates.
Apart from the hundreds of vehicles, tractors and motorcycles on display there will be ample food and refreshment stalls, an arts in the park tent as well as the ever-popular model car exhibition – the show promises to deliver to everyone’s expectations.
