Thinking about buying a new Golf 5, but not yet won over by its attractive-but-bland styling? VWSA has just released a range of sporty and practical accessories to add to the new Golf’s appeal.
One of the options is a sporty body kit that includes a subtly extended rear spoiler, side skirts, front spoiler and various alloy wheels ranging from 16 to 18 inches in size.
The front bumper spoiler has enlarged air dams at the front and can be specified with optional front fog lights. Door side strips can be lined with customised aluminium sills that are available in illuminated and non-illuminated options.
Matt Gennrich, VWSA’s parts and accessories general manager, said: “The body kit are likely to appeal to the younger generation for whom image and individuality are a key part of their buying decision.
“(Accessories such as) roof and bicycle racks, boot liners and boot net partitions are geared towards practicality,” he added.
An existing design element such as the centre armrest storage area has been utilised to accommodate a six-CD changer. The roof racks, for example, are clipped onto the roof lining without any paint damage or the need to remove rubber linings and other protection, the Uitenhage-manufacturer said.
Other accessories include: gear knob (5 and 6-speed), rear window (sun shade), towbar. For the first time, the towbar is a genuine Volkswagen component and will only be available at official Volkswagen dealers.
The reason for that, VWSA says, is that the all-new towbar comes with a control module that works in tandem with the standard towbar preparation available on all new Golfs.
A complete price list will be added shortly.
