BMW AG said it had accepted the resignation and have appointed Karl-Heinz Kalbfell to replace Gott. A former chief executive of Rolls-Royce and Bentley at Volkswagen, Gott replaced Kalbfell in 2002 to revive BMW’s new Rolls-Royce unit.
At the start of production, BMW said it hoped to sell up to 1 000 Rolls-Royce cars a year, but has not been reaching its targets.
“The goal of selling 1,000 vehicles has not changed. It has nothing to do with this,” the spokesman said, declining to comment further.
According to , a BMW spokesperson said Gott was leaving for personal reasons and had not been asked to leave.
