Following its GT coupé sibling launched a few months ago, the second-generation GTC will expand the range when it makes its international début at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
Much of the coupe’s exterior details have been carried over to its convertible counterpart, such as the striking styling cues courtesy of edgier lines and 20-inch alloys (21-inch wheels are optional) – the obvious difference being the use of a electrically operated fabric roof. The tailored soft-top is multi-layered and makes use of acoustic glass and special panels for repelling noise.
Inside, the GTC now boasts more legroom for rear passengers and luxuriously crafted cabin, consisting of soft-touch leather upholstery, a choice of seven wood veneers, touch-screen infotainment and Bentley Neck Warmer system for premium top-down motoring.
The renowned 6,0-litre twin turbocharged W12 engine that powers the Continental GTC produces 423 kW and 700 N.m of torque and is mated with the new Quickshift transmission for optimum progression on those cross-country runs. Bentley has strived not to take away from the thrill of driving and, as such, the new GTC boasts a 40:60 front-rear bias on the advanced all-wheel-drive system as well as a retuned suspension system.
"The GTC has always been the most emotional model in the Continental range and a showcase for Bentley design. With its tailored soft top, the GTC is a pure British convertible true to those classic Bentleys of the past. However, the technology, performance and overall design excellence invested in this model means that we are now writing a new chapter for the Bentley convertible driver," says Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and chief executive, Bentley Motors.
