When the World Superbike Championship takes to the track for the first time at Valencia this weekend, all eyes will be on Noriyuki Haga as he returns after his MotoGP stint last season.
After his 2003 GP season with Aprilia did not meet his expectations, the Japanese rider said he is aware that this year could determine his racing future. His previous GP attempt at 500cc level after finishing as runner-up in 2000 was also unsuccessful.
And despite being plagued by parts delays and ill team members during pre season testing, Haga has declared himself ready for the battle.
“I haven’t completed as much pre-season testing as I would have liked but I have a professional crew and great bikes,” said Haga. “I will give it everything for my team and for the fans.
He proceeded to issue a word of caution to his rivals: “Nobody has seen the best of Noriyuki Haga yet, but you are all about to!”
