Honda has released the first picture of its next CR-V. Currently referred to as the CR-V Concept, the production car will feature an all-new platform. Expect most of the new styling elements you see on this “concept” to make it to the production version. Design touches that might not make it to the production version include the neat sill extensions and darkened headlights and windows.
As can be seen from the picture, the front is much more aggressive while Honda has dropped the current CR-V’s double front bumper design. Although no pictures have been revealed of the rear as yet, we can see from this picture that the rear of the car has also received a significant re-design.
Honda confirmed that the new CR-V range will offer more fuel-efficient engines. No further details have been made public, but expect a combination of cleaner engines that could be totally new, and/or improved derivatives of the current line-up. Also expect to new gearboxes to power the part-time four-wheel-drive system.
Although the automotive industry is all set for the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany in September, the new CR-V will be revealed at the Orange County International Auto Show in Anaheim. At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Honda will be unveiling the new Honda Civic.
Expect the new CR-V and Civic to reach South African showrooms during the middle of next year.
