Tired of having to punch buttons and spin dials on your current navigation system? Honda is preparing to launch its latest voice recognition system and promises to make all this hard work a thing of the past…

Using embedded IBM software, Honda is preparing to launch a new voice recognition system that responds to up to 100 new commands.

The improved speech recognition system offers audible directions and command-and-control facilities for audio, climate and other functions. It is even able to provide reviews of nearby restaurants.

All functions can be actuated without drivers having to manually key in destinations or take their eyes off the road to read a computer screen. Taking much of the hard work out of having to first programme most cars’ satellite navigation systems, this system allows drivers to reach their destinations with minimal distraction.
