Audi is set to unveil an even hotter version of the Audi TT-RS, rather conservatively dubbed the Plus, at the forthcoming Geneva International Motor Show.
Available in both Coupe and Roadster shapes, the TT-RS Plus gains an additional 15 kW over the standard car (now 265 kW) with torque up to a not-insignificant 465 N.m available at 1 600 r/min. These gains have been achieved through revisions to the inlet manifold on the company’s 2,5-litre five-cylinder engine, as well as an increase in turbocharger boost. A new exhaust system flap has been added to the package.
Fitted with Audi’s dual-clutch S tronic transmission (although also available with a manual ‘box), the new TT-RS Plus will sprint from 0-100 km/h in an R8 V10-challenging 4,1 seconds and head towards a governed 280 km/h top speed.
Despite this performance upgrade, Audi claims an overall fuel consumption of just 8,5 L/100km for the Coupe S tronic.
Cosmetically, the TT-RS Plus is distinguishable by its new polished anthracite grille, black carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) side mirrors, black 19-inch alloy wheels with red inlays and black oval tailpipes. The engine bay also receives a healthy dose of carbon-fibre trimming.
Production of the new Audi TT-RS Plus is set to begin in Hungary in April. Unfortunately for local fans, there are no plans as yet to bring this model to South African shores.
