The Hyundai Grand i10 is now available in South Africa and will be sold alongside the current i10 hatchback.
The Grand i10 is powered by a 1,25-litre petrol engine that pushes out 64 kW at 6 000 r/min and 120 N.m at 4 000 r/min. There are three models on offer and two speciation levels and two transmission options. The i10 in Motion trim comes with a five-speed manual ‘box, while the Fluid derivative comes with the manual and a four-speed automatic. The 0-100 km/h time for the manual car is 12,7 seconds, while the auto comes in at 14,2. Top speed is 167- and 160 km/h, respectively. Hyundai claims a fuel consumption figure of 5,9 for the five-speed and 6,9 for the four-speed.
Looking similar to the new i10 that was unveiled in Frankfurt last year, the Indian-built Grand i10 features a longer wheelbase of 2 425 mm and a 100-mm longer body over its donor car. It has a length of 3 765 mm, a width of 1 660 mm, a height of 1 520 mm and a ground clearance of 167 mm.
Standard features across the range include 14-inch alloy wheels, steering wheel-mounted controls for the audio system (with aux, iPod, USB connection and Bluetooth), height adjustable front seats, dual-front airbags, front fog lights, central locking, manual air-con, electric windows all around and ABS with EBD.
