It seems nothing can stop Hyundai (and its sister company Kia) at the moment. At the upcoming Chicago Auto Show (8 to 19 February), Hyundai will show its new Elantra Coupé.
The Elantra Coupé will be powered with the same 1,8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine developing 110 kW/178 N.m that currently powers the Elantra sedan.
Apart from the sleek design of this two-door, with a drag coefficient of 0,28, Hyundai claims impressive fuel consumption figures. Hyundai also pointed out that due to changes in the suspension setup and steering system compared to that of the saloon, the Coupé will offer a sportier ride compared to the saloon.
Two different specification levels will be available. This will include a change from 16- to 17-inch wheels, a type of rear lip spoiler and even sportier suspension setup for the bigger tyres.
A spokesperson for Hyundai South African confirmed that there are no plans on bringing the Coupé to South Africa since it will only be manufactured for left-hand-drive markets.
