Hyundai’s popular H100 pick-up truck has received a fresh new look and an upgraded diesel engine for 2012.
The H100 has become something of a staple of small businesses looking for a versatile and rugged 1,3-ton load-lugger, so the latest series of upgrades will come as welcome news to many small-to-medium business users.
The exterior changes include a minor re-work of the headlamps with a charcoal trim, a revised front bumper and revise wing mirrors that serve up a better aerodynamics and panoramic rearward views than the previous items.
The cabin features a redesigned steering wheel with tilt adjustment, a sizeable glovebox and map pockets. Air conditioning can be ordered for this model as an optional extra.
A 100 x 50 mm steel section chassis with a double wishbone and torsion bar front suspension, semi-elliptic laminated leaf springs and rigid axle at the rear still underpins the H100. Wider section tyres and the front mounted anti-roll bar add extra precision to the enhanced power steering. Braking is taken care of courtesy of 15-inch brakes with an 8+9-inch booster. The load capacity remains unchanged at 1,3 tons while droppable front and side panels with heavy-duty sidewall latches and fold-away long load retention pegs on the protection bar between the cargo area and the cabin help keep ladders, pipes, wood and all other longer loads firmly in place.
Perhaps the biggest change takes place in the engine bay, with the introduction of a new 2,6-litre naturally aspirated diesel engine. This four-cylinder unit develops 58 kW at 3 800 r/min and 167 N.m of torque at 2 200 r/min
